The Offspring- Smash
Smash is the third studio album by American punk rock group The Offspring released on April 8, 1994. The album has been certified 6x Platinum in the United States, 6x Platinum in Canada, and Platinum in the United Kingdom. The album was a big success for the band, charting at #4 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart and at #21 on the UK Albums Chart, as well as reaching #3 in Canada and #1 in Australia.
Smash includes four singles-- "Come Out and Play," "Self Esteem," "Gotta Get Away," and "Bad Habit." The first three singles were commercial successes and became notable hits for the band, with all three singles charting in the top 10 of the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks Chart. "Come Out and Play" charted at #1, "Self Esteem" reached #4, and "Gotta Get Away" made it to #6 as well.
Notable of the album is that Smash gained much popularity for the band globally and was one of the main albums to help influence the punk rock/pop scene in the 1990s, also notably Green Day's Dookie which was released the same year as Smash. Also, The Offspring's third album is the only album where the band is referred to as just "Offspring," as depicted on the album cover photo above. The punk rock group would go on to become popular throughout the '90s and even to the present-- releasing new albums and touring.
