The video provides two guitars-- the rhythm guitar is the main video and the lead guitar is shown as a PIP (picture-in-picture), entering at 2:58 for the solo. Both guitars are recorded and played by Alexander Schwartz. All lyrics and music written by Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, and Jeff Lynne.
"Runnin' Down A Dream" is the fifth track from Tom Petty's first solo album titled "Full Moon Fever" released on April 24, 1989, and the second single released from the album. The song reached #23 on the "U.S. Billboard 200 Chart," with the album itself charting at #3 on the "U.S. Billboard 200." Full Moon Fever has been certified 5x Platinum in the United States, 6x Platinum in Canada, and Gold in the United Kingdom. The song is also featured in the video game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas."

Both videos were recorded via a Nady SP-5 USB Microphone plugged into a MacBook Pro and edited with iMovie. The guitar featured in both videos are a Samick Avion AV6 Greg Bennett Design Electric Guitar played through a Marshall DSL15H/MX-212 Tube Amplifier. A Boss CS-2 Compressor/Sustainer effects pedal was used for the lead guitar video (solo) with sustain set at 80. The effect was accessed through a Digitech RP1000 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal.
